Advantages of removing obsolete metadata entries for a synced module:

  • Improved performance.
  • Reduced file system space used by Riva.

Removing obsolete metadata:

To remove the metadata older than 90 days for any synced module:

  1. In the Riva Service Monitor application, stop the service.

  2. In the Riva Manager application, while preparing to re-initialize the affected users, be sure to do the following:

    1. In the Module field, select any synced module, but preferably not All.

    2. In Riva 2.4.46 or earlier, skip this step (without any problem). In Riva 2.4.47 or higher, in the Category field, select Maintenance.

    3. In the Type field, select Clean Metadata.

  3. Save the sync policy.

  4. When prompted to start the service, select Yes.

To remove the calendar item metadata older than a specified age:

  1. Ensure that Riva 2.4.43.36784 or higher is installed. If unsure of the version number, see Determine which version is installed. If the installed version is too low, upgrade Riva to the latest public release.

  2. In the Riva Service Monitor application, stop the service.

  3. In the Riva Manager application, while preparing to re-initialize, be sure to do the following:

    1. In the Module field, select Calendar.

    2. In Riva 2.4.46 or earlier, skip this step (without any problem). In Riva 2.4.47 or higher, in the Category field, select Maintenance.

    3. In the Type field, select Clean Metadata.

    4. Select OK, but do NOT save the policy yet.

  4. Configure the following advanced option in the sync policy:

Sync.Crm.Reinitialize.CleanOldItems.MinAgeDays = [minimum number of days of age required for deletion] (Deletes the calendar item metadata that is older than the number of days specified here.)

  5. Save the sync policy.

  6. When prompted to start the service, select Yes.
