Riva supports data synchronization between Oracle Sales Cloud and Exchange, IBM Notes, or GroupWise. This article describes how to prepare a Riva connection service account and the Riva server to support a Riva impersonation connection to Oracle Sales Cloud.

To prepare Oracle Sales Cloud for Riva

  1. Prepare the host Windows system.
  2. Prepare a Riva connection account in Oracle Sales Cloud.
  3. Prepare the target user accounts in Oracle Sales Cloud.
  4. Gather information required for creating the Riva Oracle Sales Cloud connection.

Step 1: Prepare the Host Windows System

Riva server can be installed on any Windows system that meets the system requirements (32- or 64-bit Windows). Confirm that you can log in to the Oracle Sales Cloud subscription account as an admin user and as a normal user account.

Step 2: Prepare a Riva connection Account in Oracle Sales Cloud

The Riva connection to Oracle Sales Cloud must be configured to use the credentials of an administrator level user or service (preferred) account. The Riva connection user or service account should be configured to not require password changes and passwords should not expire. For Oracle Sales Cloud, choose one of the following options:

  • Use an existing account assigned to the Administrator role, or
  • Create a service user account in Oracle Sales Cloud for the Riva connection, for example riva or rivasvc, and assign it to the Administrator role.

Step 3: Prepare the Target User Accounts in Oracle Sales Cloud

The primary email address of a target user's email account must match the primary email attribute value in Oracle Sales Cloud for the corresponding target user.

The Riva connection to Oracle Sales Cloud uses the Enterprise Impersonation Model:  When Riva creates new items in the CRM, it assigns ownership to the "target user". Since Riva is now acting on behalf of the target user, all audit fields in the CRM record the target user as the user that created and modified the item. Riva uses the permissions of the CRM target user to create and modify items and data in the CRM.

If the access permissions defined for the target user are not sufficient, the Riva server displays Access denied errors for each data change it tries to synchronize. Ensure that for each target user, permissions are configured to create, modify, delete, import, and export datatypes that Riva will attempt to sync for that user.

Step 4: Gather Information Required for Creating the Riva Oracle Sales Cloud Connection

Gather the following information:

  • the Oracle Sales Cloud username and password of the Riva connection user account, and
  • the website URL to log in to the Oracle Sales Cloud for your company account.

That information will be required when you create the Riva connection to the Oracle Sales Cloud system.
