This article describes how to prepare for a Riva connection to commercially hosted Exchange services. Riva supports connections to hosted and on-premise Exchange systems. If your Riva On-Premise server does not connect to a commercially hosted Exchange service, refer to one of the following:

Step 1: Prepare an Exchange Service Account for the Riva ConnectionRiva On-Premise uses a single connection Exchange Online to access all the user mailboxes. That connection must be configured with the credentials of an Exchange service user account mailbox that has been assigned permissions to impersonate into the user mailboxes that Riva is to sync. During each sync cycle, Riva connects to Exchange and then accesses each user mailbox that is assigned to an enabled Riva sync policy. The Exchange service user account is referred to as the Riva connection user. To prepare the Riva connection user:
Step 2: Prepare Corporate Firewalls for Riva On-Premise AccessEnsure that Windows and corporate firewalls are configured to grant the Riva server access to and from the commercially hosted Exchange service using EWS (ports 80 and 443). See Firewall Settings for Riva. Step 3: Confirm Connectivity from the Windows Host Server to Hosted Exchange OnlineOn the Windows system that will host the Riva On-Premise server, confirm that you can log in to Outlook Web Access using the Exchange service user account login credentials.
