Rackspace: Add "Delegate Full Access" for User Mailboxes

The Riva connection user for Exchange requires "Delegate" full access permissions to the mailboxes of the target users.

For Rackspace customers, assigning "Delegate" full access permissions is done by using the online Mailbox management console.

For on-premises Exchange systems, this is normally configured by using Exchange Management Console. For more information on full access permissions, delegated access, and impersonation, see Prepare the Exchange mailbox for the Riva connection user.

To add delegate full access for user mailboxes:

  1. Create an Exchange mailbox to be used by Riva.
  2. Grant "Full Access" delegate permissions to target users.

Step 1: Create an Exchange Mailbox to Be Used by Riva

Create a mailbox or use an existing service mailbox that Riva can use to connect to Exchange.

Step 2: Grant Full Access Permissions in Rackspace

With hosted Exchange services, the Riva connection account should be an administrator-level account that is granted "Delegate" full access permissions to each target user.

To grant full access permissions in Rackspace:

  1. Log in to the Rackspace Management console as the company Rackspace account.

  2. Choose to manage Email Accounts.

  3. Select a target user's mailbox.

  4. Under Mailboxes > Mailbox Details, select the General tab, and ensure that the options Visible in the Exchange Global Access List and Public folder admin are selected.

  5. Under Mailboxes > Mailbox Details, select the Permissions tab. Enter the email address of the Riva connection account, ensure that the Full Access permission is assigned, and select Add.

  6. Confirm that the Riva connection account has been added with Full Access permissions assigned, and select Save.

  7. For the rest of the Exchange target user mailboxes, repeat steps 3 to 6.
