Riva Insight: Components of Context View

The Riva Insight context view used to be called the Insight panel. It is the display of read-only information from the CRM after an end user selects a supported item in Outlook or uses the Riva Insight Search field to find a supported record in the CRM.

Components of the Riva Insight context view:

Header and Logos

Standard header:

  • In Riva Insight 2021.3 or higher, by default, the header displays no logos or branding.
  • Previous versions, by default, displayed the Riva logo to the left and the Riva Insight logo to the right.

Possible customizations:

  • The Riva Insight header can be customized with your own logos and links to your resources.
    For example:
    • To the left, display your corporate logo, and link it to your corporate website or intranet.
    • To the right, display a vendor logo, and link it to your CRM or other application.

Search

To search for a contact, account, or opportunity in the CRM:

  1. Enter at least three letters of a search term.

  2. To the right, select Contact, Account, or Opportunity.

  3. Select to search in the CRM.

  4. When the search results appear, select any item to view account information and contact information on the item.

Appointment Information

In Riva Insight 2018.4 or higher, the feature is enabled by default. — In Riva Insight 2018.3, some configuration is required: contact the Riva Success Team.

When you select, in the mail system, an appointment that has been synced with the CRM, the Riva Insight context view displays the main CRM appointment details.

To see all the CRM appointment details, select the    Open icon.

Notes:

  • The date and time are based on the user's current location.
  • Assigned To: The appointment's owner.
  • Related to: Relationships to other objects in the CRM. Especially useful if you use Track in CRM.
  • Additional fields can be added in the appointment information section of the Riva Insight context view. For more information, see Displaying additional fields for appointments.

Account Information

The Riva Insight context view displays account information

  • after a search; or
  • when you select an email, contact, or appointment in the email client.

To view additional information about the account, select an icon:

and . Selecting either icon opens the CRM page that stores the account information.

Google Maps. Displays a full-browser view of the account's location in Google Maps.

Time. Displays the time at the account's headquarters, if the CRM data includes the account's city, province or state, and country.

Wikipedia. Displays information on the account, based on the account's name in the CRM. Example.

Google Search. Example. The search is based on the account's name in the CRM.

Google News. Example. The news articles are retrieved based on the account's name in the CRM.

Google Weather. Displays the weather for the city where the account is located, if the CRM data includes the city. Example.

Website. Displays the account's website in a new web browser instance. Example.

Misc:

Missing Information. Indicates that the CRM is missing information that is required for the icon links to work.

Additional fields can be added in the account information section of the Riva Insight context view.

Contact Information

The Riva Insight context view displays contact information

  • after a search; or
  • when you select a contact in the email client and the contact is in the CRM; or
  • when you select an email or appointment in the email client — and the email or meeting has recipients, attendees, or related contacts that are in the CRM (based on their email address).

By default, only external contacts are displayed, but Riva Insight 2018.3 or higher can be customized to display contacts whose email address is in the same email domain as yours. This customization requires the Riva Insight client version 1.1.25 or higher. For the client upgrade, see Install Riva Insight. For more information, contact the Riva Success Team.

Information obtained from the CRM:

Contact's Name. Selecting expands or collapses the information displayed for the selected contact.

Opens the CRM page that stores the contact information.

Contact's Title.

Time. Displays the time at the contact’s location, if the CRM contact information includes the city, province or state, and country.

Information obtained from the CRM:

Business Phone Number.

Cell Number.

Fax Number.

Email Address.

Additional fields can be added in the contact information section of the Riva Insight context view.

Upcoming Events: Displays up to five contact-related CRM appointments or tasks to take care of in the next three months.

In Riva 2018.3 or higher, the Upcoming Events section is customizable.

Recent Interactions: Displays up to five CRM appointments, tasks, or emails in the last three months.

In Riva 2018.3 or higher, the Recent Interactions section is customizable.

Settings and Logging Out

Opens the Settings window. For more information, see Riva Insight settings.

Logs out of Riva Insight.
