How to Disable GroupWise Accounts

Question:  I need to disable Groupwise logins for a few hundred not-current users in our STUDENTS OU.  If I create an import file of the usernames I want to disable, can EMU go through and disable GW logins for just those accounts? 

Answer:  The current version of the GroupWise APIs do not allow the ability to disable GroupWise Accounts.  They only support the option to "Expire" GroupWise accounts.  The different between disabling and expiring a GroupWise account is that, with disabled accounts, users cannot login but the accounts will continue to receive mail.  With expired accounts the account will not receive any email. 

Here are your options:

• You can use EMU to expire GroupWise accounts.  With expired accounts, users cannot login and the accounts will not be able to receive mail.  See "How to Expire GroupWise Accounts using EMU" for detailed instructions.
• You can use EMU to change the password on the account(s).  Because the user will not know the new password, this will effectively disable the GroupWise account.  See "How to force GroupWise Account Password Changes using EMU" for detailed instructions..
