  • Exchange Web Services (EWS): This is the recommended connection method for Office 365 Exchange Online and Exchange 2016, 2013, 2010, and 2007 (hosted and on-premises). EWS is not supported for Exchange 2003.

  • Messaging API (MAPI): This is the connection type for Exchange 2003 and is supported for Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010. This connection method requires the Outlook client to be installed on the Windows system that hosts the Riva On-Premise server. Because of the Outlook client requirement, Riva must not be hosted on the Exchange server.  (no longer supported)
