For Riva Insight 2020.5 or higher.

This article is for your company's Riva Insight administrators to configure the display of CRM information in the Riva Insight context view.

  • The Riva Insight context view used to be called the Insight panel. It is the display of read-only information from the CRM after an end user selects a supported item in Outlook or uses the Riva Insight Search field to find a supported record in the CRM.

  • Specifically, by configuring the CRM Modules options of Riva Insight, the admins control which CRM fields are displayed in the context view of Riva Insight, exactly where they are displayed in the context view, and which icon accompanies a given field.

Your company's Riva Insight administrators can also configure the Track in CRM fields.

Configuring the Display of CRM Fields in the Riva Insight Context View

  1. In Outlook, navigate to Riva Insight.

  2. At the bottom of the Riva Insight panel, click Settings.

  3. In the Riva Insight Settings window that appears, on the top menu, select the CRM Modules tab.

  4. To the left, on the Modules sidebar, select the CRM module you want to configure the display of in context view.

Result: Selecting a module brings up a right pane with three tabs: Summary View, Detailed View, and Enrich Icons.

  5. On the Summary View and/or Detailed View tab, do one or more of the following:

    • To display a field in the header of an item in Summary or Detailed View, drag the field from the Unassigned section (or from the General section) and drop it into the Header section. Drop it above or below another field so that the dropped field will appear left or right of the other field in the header of the item in context view.
    • Likewise, to display a field in the body of an item in Summary or Detailed View, drag the field from the Unassigned section (or from the Header section) and drop it into the General section. Drop it above or below another field, in the order you want the fields to appear top to bottom in the body of the item in context view.
    • To hide a field from Summary or Detailed View, drag it to the Unassigned section.

  6. In the top right of the tab, click Save.

Example:

If you want the context view to display a contact's office phone number, choose the Summary View tab, locate the field object for Office Phone and select it, and then drag it to Header or General as desired. Repeat the same steps on the Detailed View tab.

Result: The Office Phone option will be displayed in both the Summary and Detail views of the context view.

Creating a Custom Detail Field

You can add custom fields to the context view so that the end users can see the CRM information they need. For example, if you want the context view to display the order number of a CRM lead or opportunity, you can create a custom detail field for that and configure the context view to display it. The context view will then display the order number for a lead or opportunity, giving the user quick access.

To create a custom detail field for display in Riva Insight:

  1. In Outlook, navigate to Riva Insight, and click Settings. On the top menu, select CRM Modules.

  2. On the side bar, select the CRM module that has a field you want to display in context view but cannot see in the Unassigned section when configuring the display.

  3. Click Add Field.

  4. In the field labeled CRM Field, enter the value of that field that exists in the CRM. (Examples: Custom Language; Order Number.)

  5. Click Add Field.

  6. Select the Display Config tab.

  7. From the options, select an icon to display for this field.

  8. In the Label field, select the label you want to appear for the item.

  9. In the Value field, select the CRM value from the drop-down list that corresponds to the label.

  10. Optional: In the applicable fields, enter a URL or a Tooltip.

  11. Click Save.

Result: The UI switches back to the Summary View tab for the chosen module, and the custom Detail Field appears in the Unassigned Fields section.

  12. From the Unassigned section on the Summary View tab and/or Detail View tab, drag and drop the new field into the Header or General section.

  13. Click Save.

Creating an Enriched Icon

Each of the CRM modules has an Enrich Icons tab. Select this tab to access options to enable, disable, or create new icons.

For full instructions on how to create an enriched icon, see Creating Enriched Icons in Riva Insight.

Tip: You can also configure subscribing to Salesforce from the Enrich Icons tab. For more information, see Subscribe to Salesforce from Riva Sync and Riva Insight: configuration.
