Example of Calculating Daily Salesforce API Call Consumption by Riva

Article ID: 586
Last updated: 28 Oct, 2016

First, we suggest reviewing an article that describes the number of API calls to expect from Riva Cloud or Riva On-Premise: Salesforce API limits: Connection to CRM Server failed: REQUEST_LIMIT_EXCEEDED.

Example

You have 10 users, with a total of 7 modules enabled, with a 15-min sync cycle during peak hours.

Under normal usage, we would expect the following minimum number of API calls from Riva:

  • Every 15 minutes, 10 users synchronize a total of 7 modules, each requiring 3 API calls. For all the users to synchronize every 15 minutes, a total of 10 * 7 * 3 = 210 API calls are required.

  • A 12-hour “peak period” requires 48 sync cycles, each requiring 210 API calls, for a total of approximately 10,000 API calls.

  • For an average 24-hour period, under normal activity, based on the above, Riva generates between 10,000 and 11,000 API calls.

If a user did a bulk import into Outlook, the above count would be much higher.

Tip: The best way to perform an import is to use the Salesforce bulk loader tools.

Applies to

  • Riva Cloud for Salesforce and for Exchange and GroupWise.
  • Riva On-Premise for Salesforce and for Exchange and GroupWise.
