To install the Riva Insight On-Premise Server for the first time, contact the Riva Success Team.

Riva Insight 2022.1 and higher requires version 4.7.2 of the Microsoft .NET Framework:

  1. Determine if your version of Microsoft Windows Server has .NET Framework of 4.7.2 installed.
  2. If required, download and install the .NET Framework 4.7.2.
  3. Once the install has completed, restart the server.

To upgrade the Riva Insight On-Premise Server to version 2022.1 or higher:

  1. If Login with Salesforce will be used, ensure that an OAuth connection to CRM is in place; if none exists, create one.

    • Login with Salesforce is not compatible with CRM connections using Basic Authentication.

    • (Salesforce only) In the Salesforce connected app, ensure that there is a callback URL pointing to the Insight server, as below:

Example: https://{servername}/{insightappname}/salesforce-oauth
                 https://insight.mycorp.com/insight/salesforce-oauth

Note: If you are creating a Salesforce connected app AND a CRM connection in Riva for the first time, the same callback URL referencing the Insight server's fully qualified domain name should also be entered when creating the CRM connection in Riva.

  1. In the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, stop all the services.

  2. Back up the folder where Riva Insight is currently located, and keep the backup for at least 60 days.

  3. Download the Riva Insight Server package.

Note: The file name has the following format: RivaInsight.OnPremise.Install.yyyy.v.n.nnnn-nnnn.zip.

  4. Right-click the downloaded Riva Insight Server package .zip file, and choose Properties. If there is an Unblock checkmark, select it. Click OK.

  5. Extract the zip file. In File Explorer, open the \zips\ folder in the extracted package.

  6. Unzip the package inside (displays as RivaInsight.OnPremise.yyyy.v.n.nnnn-nnnn.zip).

    • Here, there will be 2 folders: \Insight & \WebApi.

  7. Open the \Insight folder from the extracted zip file in step 7. In another File Explorer window, navigate to the directory where Insight Server is installed, and copy the contents to overwrite the existing \Insight folder installed on the server.

  8. Open the \WebApi folder from the extracted zip file in step 7. In another File Explorer window, navigate to the directory where Insight Server is installed, and copy the contents to overwrite the existing \WebApi folder installed on the server.

  9. If upgrading from Riva Insight On-Premise 2020.3 or earlier, do the following to meet new requirements:

  10. In the IIS Manager, start all the services.

Note: That action starts the Riva Insight On-Premise Server and the intranet site that your Riva Insight clients log into.

  11. From a client device, open Outlook and verify that you can successfully log into Riva Insight.

Notes about the Riva Insight On-Premise clients:

Due to Microsoft moving away from Windows (COM based) Add-ins, the Outlook Web Add-in should be used for all environments using Microsoft 365/Microsoft Online as the mail server.
