This article applies to the Riva versions 2.4.41 through 2.4.46.
In Riva 2.4.47, a better process was introduced. See Export and import a migration package.

Exporting and importing Riva sync policies and associated files facilitates moving policies from one Riva On-Premise server to another.

The export-import .zip file includes all of the following:

  • The sync policy.
  • All associated email and CRM connections.
  • All associated "Custom" folders.
  • The user transaction folder.
  • The global transaction folder.

Export

To export a Riva sync policy and its associated folders and files:

  1. Start the Riva Manager application. On the menu bar, select Policies.

  2. In the right pane, right-click the sync policy, and select Extract.

  3. In the Save As window that appears, navigate to the folder where you want to export the .zip file, enter a file name, and select Save.

The Riva sync policy is disabled, and all the folders and files are saved in a .zip file to the location you have specified. When the .zip file is imported to another Riva server, the extracted sync policy will be disabled, so that you can make changes to your Riva configuration before the sync begins on that other server.

  4. Optionally make changes to the Riva sync policy that you just exported with its associated folders and files.

  5. Re-enable the Riva sync policy that you just exported.

Import

C A U T I O N :  If you import a Riva sync policy that has the same name as a policy that was already in the right pane of the Riva Manager application, the imported policy and associated folders and files overwrite the policy and associated folders and files that were already in the Riva folder on the computer that you imported the policy to. A message box says that the sync policy was imported successfully, but when looking in the right pane, you might have the impression that nothing happened.

To import a Riva sync policy and its associated files:

  1. Start the Riva Manager application. On the menu bar, select Policies.

  2. In the right pane, along the top, select Import.

  3. In the Open window that appears, navigate to the .zip file that contains the Riva sync policy that you want to import, and select Open.

All the files in the .zip file are extracted to the correct Riva folders. The Riva sync policy is disabled, so that you can make changes to the Riva configuration before the sync begins.
