Detailed Explanations on Each Riva Cloud Subscription Mode

Common questions.

Corporate Company
In a Nutshell Multiple users with a single, common sync policy. Multiple users, each with an individual sync policy.
Definition Corporate mode: A single subscription that supports multiple users who have a single, common sync policy that is managed by a Riva Cloud Corporate administrator. Company mode: A single subscription that supports multiple syncing users, each with an individual sync policy, individual CRM connection, and individual email connection. Company mode allows an administrator to manage the multiple users' sync policies and also allows the users to manage their own sync policies. Each user has a Riva Cloud login at https://www.rivacloud.com/live/.

When you are initially set up with a Riva Cloud account, your account is automatically configured as a Company subscription that has only one user who has full admin access.

Sync Method Corporate mode: Riva Cloud performs an IMPERSONATION sync between each user's CRM user account and email mailbox. The Riva Cloud admin user creates
  • one connection to the CRM using an admin-level service user account,
  • one connection to the email system using an email service account that has impersonation access to the target user mailboxes, and
  • a single sync policy that defines what Riva Cloud will sync for ALL users.
Company mode: Riva Cloud performs a DIRECT sync between each user's CRM user account and email mailbox. This requires creating connections to each syncing user's CRM and email accounts and an individual sync policy for each user that defines what Riva Cloud will sync for that user.
User Login Corporate mode: There is no end-user interaction required or available with a Corporate subscription. From the end users' perspective, Riva Cloud "auto-magically" syncs data: they do not have to do anything. Individual users cannot log in to Riva Cloud. Only the admin user can log in to https://www.rivacloud.com/live/ to change passwords; add, disable, or enable users; test connections; modify the sync policy; monitor sync activity; and examine sync logs for each user. Company mode: Every user has a Riva Cloud login. Individual users can manage their own sync policies and look at their own sync logs.
Best Suited For Corporate mode is best suited for organizations
  • that do not want the end users to have to interact with Riva, and
  • where all users require the same sync policy settings, and
  • where these settings are managed by the Riva admin user, and
  • where the email system, CRM, and IT security team provide support to configure the required access to the systems.

This mode requires that the account that Riva will use to communicate with the email system be configured with full access impersonation/delegation. The mode requires that Riva be configured to connect to the CRM with an admin user account or equivalent to be able to have impersonation or full read/write access to the full instance of the CRM.

Company mode is best suited for
  • Organizations or organizational units with fewer than 10 users,
  • Organizations whose individual users require different sync options, and/or
  • Environments where configuring mailbox full access/delegation or CRM admin access is not available or not supported by the email system, CRM, or IT security team.
Advantages Corporate mode:
  • Riva Cloud syncs CRM data transparently for each user.

  • There are no individual user/passwords to manage.

  • End-user changes in email system or CRM passwords are transparent to the Riva sync process. Users can change their email system and CRM passwords without having to do anything in Riva.

  • Centralized control of the sync policy that determines the data that will sync. By default, the person who registers the Riva Cloud account is the admin user. Only the admin user can manage the connections and sync policy settings.

  • One billing transaction to cover all users. Supports monthly or annual billing with an approved credit card.

  • User accounts can be easily added or removed without any end-user interaction or knowledge of end-user credentials.

Company mode:
  • Quick and easy setup and configuration that does not require assistance from the email system, CRM, IT administrators, or security teams.

  • Maximum flexibility and the ability to allow different sync settings for each user. Each user has an individual Riva Cloud account to log in to. Individual users can create, test, and modify their own connections and sync policy options.

  • One billing transaction to cover all users. Supports monthly or annual billing with an approved credit card.

  • Other users can be easily added or removed.

  • The person who registers the Riva Cloud account is, by default, the admin user. Additional users can be designated as admin accounts. Admin accounts can add new users and manage user connections and sync policies associated with the Company policy.

Considerations Corporate mode:
  • Every user is under the same policy. There is no room for variation in the sync policy between users.
  • If you need some users to sync differently, request a second subscription and set it to Company mode. Retain the subscription in Corporate mode for all the users who must sync in exactly the same way.
Company mode:
  • When users change their email or CRM passwords, they must remember to log in to Riva Cloud and update their email or CRM connection account passwords. If such users forget to update their connection passwords in Riva, the sync process stops.
  • Each user sync policy needs to be created and configured individually.
  • There is no ability to bulk update multiple users' sync policies.
