Installing the Riva CRM Integration Server involves the following:

  1. Verify the Windows host system meets the system requirements.
  2. Download and Extract Riva.
  3. Check for Available Updates.
  4. Implement strategy to work with existing Outlook plug-ins.

DO NOT install Riva on an Exchange server if a MAPI connection will be used to connect Riva to Exchange.  For MAPI connections, Riva requires an Outlook client be installed and Microsoft does not recommend installing Outlook on an Exchange server.  We do not recommend installing Riva on an Exchange 2007 or 2010 server.

Download and Extract Riva

  1. Log on to the Windows system as a local administrative user or as a user with local administrative rights and permissions.
  2. Register to request a download at http://www.rivacrmintegration.com/integration/downloads/. You will receive an email with instructions and download links.
  3. Download the the riva-latest.zip file from the link provided in the download email and save it to C:\Download\Omni.
  4. Extract the riva-latest.zip to:
    • For x86 (32-bit) system: C:\Program Files\Omni\Riva\
    • For x64 (64-bit) system: C:\Program Files (x86)\Omni\Riva\
  5. Browse to the target extraction folder (step 3) and create desktop shortcuts for the following files:
    • "Riva.exe" and name the shortcut “Riva CRM”.
    • "CRM Service Monitor for Exchange.cmd" and name the shortcut “Riva CRM Monitor”.

Check for Available Updates

Ensure that the latest release of Riva is installed:

  1. Run Riva CRM and click on Check for Updates in the menu bar. Follow the update wizard to download and apply the latest release files as applicable.
  2. Restart Riva CRM.

If your network environment uses web proxy authentication to access the internet, the “Check for Updates” process may fail. Refer to Web Proxy Authentication Support for Riva CRM for instructions.
